Sores and Rashes

A dog might get a rash or sore place by chewing itself. Most of the dogs will chew on their own skin raw whenever there is an itch. Doggy could get skin irritants like nettles, allergic reaction to internal or external element or rash by insect bites like typical flea bites. Usually it is hard to tell to what degree the sore area is due to irritant or self-inflicted due to the irritation.

When a dog is scratching itself more than normal, the most common trigger may be the fleas. Fleas don't come singly. If you notice a flea, there will probably be others. Two or three might be sufficient to begin the itch cycle. The solution is to tackle the fleas, and all the problem will be solved. If this doesn’t, the soothing cream, like rescue cream, could be sufficient.

Seborrhea comprises abnormal secretion from sebaceous glands, causing lumps, a greasy coat and areas of dead skin. Veterinary attention is needed to deal with it.

Ringworm affection is zoonotic and is signified by round areas of hair loss and flaky skin.

Itchy skin can be caused by all sorts of things such as an unsuitable diet, parasite infestation, an allergy, a fungal infection, or even a reaction to shampoo/conditioners. Consult your vet to ascertain the cause so appropriate treatment can be administered.

The object of treatment, whether your own first aid or your veterinary surgeon’s, is to eliminate the cause before attempting to cure the effect.
